Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
